Jake Schick is a nonbinary writer, comedian, filmmaker, musician, cinematographer, editor, and actor, who is currently based in Brooklyn, NY.
As a filmmaker, Jake primarily works as a film editor and 1st AC, who also works on films as DP and AD, and is currently available for hire. They also work full-time at Little Monster Films (Free Solo, Meru, NYAD) as
Production-Coordinator/Post Production Manager, and assistant editor on 3 of their upcoming documentaries.
They wrote/directed/produced/edited their first feature film Mechanical Bulls in 2023, which after a limited theatrical release in USA, is now available on Amazon Prime and ROKU. They also recently produced & edited Lauren Nguyen's film Please, Smile, which is currently in a festival run.
They constantly work on narrative films and documentaries as well as music videos. They have worked as 1st AC on nearly 15 short films and multiple documentaries. They have worked as editor, DP, and PD on many award-winning short films as well, and won Best New Director at the Houston 48 Hr Film Fest and in the Lit Laughs Fest. They were recently a quarterfinalist in the Screen Craft screenplay competition for the screenplay Mosquito, and their stage-plays God's Engaged and 7 Seconds of Love debuted at The Tank Theater, and The Brick respectively. 7 Seconds of Love was directed by Shoshana Ehrenkranz.
In 2024, they performed off broadway as "Fin" at the Hudson Guild Theater in "THE PLAY." They also performed as BUCKY in the one-act play "ABANDONED."
As a comedian, Jake recently headlined Littlefield at the 2022 New York Comedy Festival, and their headlining tour (jake schick: something) ended in Los Angeles at The Yard Theater August 4th, 2023. They are now developing a new show currently titled jake schick: nothing, and you can get tickets to see it here.
Jake performs nightly at NYC venues including the Kraine Theater, NY Comedy Club, and Union Hall. Festival credits include Little Island Festival, PIT Solocom Festival, and NY Comedy Fest. They have opened and performed with comedians including Daniel Simonsen, Ember Knight, and Jim Gaffigan. Their improv group Lovers & Doctors performs all over NYC, and their sketch group Jake & Sam perform live as well as created the fake podcast MINDMEAL.
Jake was a staff writer for One4Kids on the series Faith & Layla and starred in the play "Judson & Julius" at the Rattlestick Theater in 2021.
