My name is Jake Schick, and I am a person.
As a kid from Houston, Texas, I grew up laughing all the time. I felt there was nothing better than genuine laughter, which sparked my interest in comedy.
I started performing stand up comedy regularly when I moved to New York two years ago. I came to pursue stand up as well as writing and acting. While performing in many clubs around the city, I had my first packed crowd at Eastville Comedy Club. After going on at Eastville’s Rising Star showcase, I was invited back to do more shows at venues such as The Stand and Gotham Comedy Club. Since then, I have performed on many stages throughout New York, sharing the stage with comedians including Jim Gaffigan, Janeane Garofalo, and Dan Soder.
Going to see live stand up, reading stories, and watching movies have been a big part of my life. I chose to follow my passions to learn more about the crafts that inspire me, and hopefully I can create something for others along the way. Whether it's a dramatic film, or a one liner joke, these things have inspired me time and time again. Laughter has given me an incredible amount of meaning, and had a provided me a way to learn about myself and the world around me. I strive to make something new to let people laugh, find truths, and enjoy things the way I have.
I am just beginning, and I look forward to the many journeys ahead.
